An Evening with Mark Cullen, Canada's Favourite Gardener

Tuesday, May 31, 7:00 pm, Jasper Activity Centre
Canada’s favourite gardener Mark Cullen will share his insight and expertise with local gardening enthusiasts. The Municipality of Jasper won an Outstanding Achievement Award in the 2015 International Communities in Bloom competition for Community Involvement. In honour of this award, celebrity gardener Mark Cullen will spend a day in Jasper. Free admission! Door prizes!

Wild Wacky Walking Wednesday

Wednesday, June 8, 8:00 am
June 8 is Clean Air Day - a celebration of environmentally-friendly activities that promote clean air and good health across Canada. Students walk, bike or design a crazy conveyance to get to school. Watch the students arrive to school in the most creative ways!

Stewardship Day

Thursday, June 9
Staff from Parks Canada and the Municipality of Jasper join forces to pick up litter along major roadways to keep our park pristine. Tonnes of litter are removed from the ditches and roadside pull-outs.

E-Waste, HHW Round-up and Community Shred Event

Saturday, June 11, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm  collection ends at 2:00 pm
Parking lot by the Anglican Church Hall (Geikie and Hazel)

Round-up: Bring Ewaste (computers, TVs) and Household Hazardous Waste (paint, aerosols and corrosive solvents) to the Round-up for recycling and/or safe disposal.
Community Shred Event: bring boxes of paper to be shredded while you watch. Shredded documents can then be safely recycled.
Rain Barrel Rebates
One way to reduce your footprint is to reduce water consumption, especially in the summer with the watering of gardens and yards. Harvesting rainwater makes sense.

Special Promotion
As a special promotion for Earth Day, Jasper residents can receive a 30% rebate on the purchased price of a rain barrel if purchased between April 22 - May 31. To apply, submit a Rain Barrel Rebate Application (PDF).

Buy the rain barrel from any retailer you want; Jasper Home Hardware, Canadian Tire and Walmart all sell rain barrels.

Toward Zero Waste Events

Events can generate a lot of waste, which can be both costly and have a negative impact on the environment.

A Zero Waste Event is any event that works towards minimizing waste generation and maximizing reusing and recycling to achieve the greatest possible waste diversion.
