Jasper is excited to host the start of the 2017 Tour of Alberta on September 1, celebrating the fifth anniversary of the world-class event.
Canada’s highest ranked professional road race will showcase the cycling and visitor opportunities available in Jasper National Park to thousands of race-goers and millions of spectators around the world. The event broadcast reaches 47 million viewers in over 160 countries. The earned media value of previous editions of the Tour of Alberta has been estimated at over 30 million dollars – a return on community investment otherwise unattainable in our small community.
Spectators will enjoy interactive festivals, exhilarating competition, live entertainment, and family activities. Free to the public, the Tour of Alberta is one of Canada’s largest annual travelling events. The race will begin with an iconic mountain stage in Jasper National Park and adopt a ‘hub-and-spoke’ model once it reaches Edmonton, the only other host community for the 2017 Tour of Alberta.
