If your home or business has a water line bleeder, please make sure it is turned on. Warmer temperatures actually drive the frost further into the ground.
Water line freeze-ups can happen anytime temperatures drop below zero and the frost starts penetrating into the ground. Factors influencing how deep the frost goes include:
- Snow coverage (or lack thereof)
- Activities above ground, including the weight of vehicles on roads and driveways
- Outdoor temperatures, including warm air driving the frost down
If you are running a bleeder, please contact Janet Schmidt, Utilities Clerk, at 780-852-6505 to ensure approved bleeder credits are applied to your account.
