What is #OperationReLeaf: Alberta Mountain Pine Beetle?

Mountain Pine Beetle is one of the biggest threats to pine trees in the province of Alberta.

Since 2010, Tree Canada, a national tree planting charity, has partnered with the Government of Alberta’s Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry to fight this threat through its #OperationReLeaf Alberta Mountain Pine Beetle initiative.

The program offers grants ranging from $300 to more than $3,000 to homeowners, private landowners and municipalities for the replacement of trees and the recovery of forests affected by mountain pine beetle on private or municipal lands in Alberta.

This grant is open to Alberta residents, private landowners, Indigenous communities and municipalities who want to replace — or who already have replaced — trees affected by mountain pine beetle.

For more information or to apply please visit Tree Canada’s website.

The deadline for submitting a grant application is October 26, 2018. Trees must be planted in calendar year 2018 in order to be eligible for this grant.
