The MOJ and Parks Canada are committed to a positive, mutually beneficial relationship. Representatives from the two organizations as well as mayor and council meet three to four times per year to discuss and move forward topics of mutual interest.

Funding for the Recreation Facilities Renovation and Upgrades was approved by Infrastructure Canada in the amount of $3,664,584, which will help finance upgrades to the Arena, curling rink, Activity Centre, Aquatic Centre and Centennial Park Log Cabin.

The new Temporary Compulsory Face Covering Bylaw requires operators or proprietors of indoor public places to display notice, at all public entrances, that all persons entering and remaining within these premises must wear a face covering.

Council made face coverings compulsory on most municipal sidewalks downtown, and in all outdoor public places where a 2 metre distance cannot be maintained. A new bylaw also requires individuals to wear face coverings in all indoor public places.

To help with physical distancing, the MOJ has created a Temporary Sidewalk Seating Extension Permit and a Retail Area Extension Permit. Permit holders can expand sidewalk seating or retail displays by using the parking lane in front of their business.
