Fitness & Aquatic Centre

May 5, 2021 Update

As of today the Fitness & Aquatic Centre will be closed for a minimum of 3 weeks following the provincial restrictions that were announced last night. These new restrictions also include indoor youth activities, which means programs like dance and gymnastics that are currently offered out of the Jasper Activity Centre, will not be permitted.

  • All league play and organized sports are prohibited until at least the end of May.
  • Outdoor recreation with up to 10 people is allowed, with mandatory two meter physical distancing between people from different households.
  •  Outdoor municipal recreation facilities (parks, fields, etc.) will remain open to the public. Please follow all COVID restrictions while using them so we can continue to offer this service.

Please check the Government of Alberta website linked below, under the “Municipalities below the regional threshold” header, for details on the measures in place for the Municipality of Jasper.

We’re currently waiting for Alberta Heath to give us the go ahead on reopening the Aquatic Centre. As soon as we know when we’re able to open we will post here and on the website.

Much like Fitness Centre, the Aquatic Centre will operate quite differently under the current COVID-19 restrictions.

We will be offering:

  • private lessons for both children and adults (30 minute and 45 minute lessons)
  • private household reservations (45 minutes)

  • all lessons which require assistance (Parent & Tot, Preschool levels, Swimmer 1-3) will require a household guardian in the water with them to assist them.  Adults in the water will be required to wear a mask and stay in less than chest deep water so that they can stand up.
  • Not required for swimmers in the water
  • Not required for household rentals once they are on the pool deck

Once we have an opening date, everything will be bookable online here:

March 17, 2021 Update

The Fitness Centre and Bouldering Wall will reopen March 22 and users can now book their time slots for the Fitness Centre and Bouldering Wall here or by calling the Fitness & Aquatic Centre at 780-852-3663.

Under the current provincial COVID-19 restrictions, only low intensity workouts are permitted at this time. Distanced pathways have been marked on the floors and lead to low intensity equipment. Masks are also mandatory at all times, including during your workout.

At this time the tentative reopening date for the Aquatic Centre is March 29. We will provide updates on this page once we have more information.

For more information, please read our reopening fact sheet. Fitness Centre & Bouldering Wall Reopening Fact Sheet

Thank you again for your patience and we look forward to seeing you in the Fitness Centre

March 5, 2021 Update

On Monday, Alberta Health announced the easing of some restrictions for indoor fitness. Low intensity fitness activities such as pilates, stretching, light weightlifting and indoor rock climbing are now permitted.

High intensity activities such as swimming (with the exception of youth lessons), cardio workouts or heavy weightlifting are not permitted in our facilities at this time. In addition, the distance required between pieces of equipment in the fitness centre has now increased to 3 meters. Municipal staff are still determining how this can work in our facilities.

The Fitness and Aquatic Centre closed on December 13 due to provincial COVID restrictions. Reopening facilities with complex equipment and systems such as the pool, fitness centre and arena requires time and planning, including staff recalls, training, Alberta Health testing and approvals, and general systems maintenance.

We understand and value the importance of exercise for physical and mental wellbeing, and are doing out best to reopen facilities in a timely and safe manner.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

February 5, 2021 Update

Following careful review of the provincial government’s plan to ease public health measures, the Jasper Fitness & Aquatic Centre will remain closed at this time as operation of the Fitness Centre, Bouldering Wall and Aquatic Centre is not feasible under Step 1 of the provincial plan.

We are currently looking into the possibility of one-on-one swim lessons at the Aquatic Centre and will provide updates once we have more information.

As further announcements are made by the provincial government about the easing of restrictions, we will continue to evaluate and assess how and when we will be able to reinstate services at the Fitness & Aquatic Centre.

Visit the provincial website for details on current measures:

As per the provincial measures announced on December  8, the Jasper Activity Centre; Arena and Fitness & Aquatic Centre are closed.

Fitness & Aquatic Centre pass holders will have their membership extended for the duration of the closure.
