Residents can expect a significant change in landscape between the north town boundary and the Jasper Cemetery in coming days and weeks.
A Tiger Cat wood processing machine is on site, making short work of cutting, falling, limbing, bucking and stacking trees. The area between the town entrance sign and the cemetery (along Bighorn Alley trail) is expected to look very different once the work is complete, as a large number of trees in the area are dead and slated to be removed.
A rubber tire Fowarder has arrived on site to hoist and load logs onto a trailer, and then haul them to the road. The logs are scheduled to be transported to the Grande Cache mill in late March. All proceeds from this process are invested back in the FireSmart project to fund additional work.
