About Jasper 

Population 

The last federal census was held in 2016. The population of year round citizens in Jasper is around 5000 people but the town sees up to 12, 000 seasonal workers each year. 

Shared Governance

The Municipality of Jasper is unique because of its location within a national park. Governance is shared between the Municipality of Jasper and the Parks Canada Agency. Read more about governance in Jasper. 




Typical Weather 

Weather in the mountains changes fast. If you don't like the weather, just wait 10 minutes! 

> Spring comes to the town of Jasper by May but there will be lots of snow on the mountains still.

> Summer days are long, but the summer season is short.

> July is the warmest month with a mean daily maximum temperature of 22.5 degrees Celsius.

> September and October bring fall colours, clear skies, and cooler temperatures.
