Saturday, April 27

FireSmart your home, apartment or business and take advantage of yard waste and household hazardous waste pick-up right at your door!

Pick-up will take place on Saturday and Sunday.

An estimated 90% of homes damaged or destroyed by wildfire are ignited by embers. By taking proactive FireSmart measures around your property, you can increase your property's resistance to wildfire.

On Saturday, April 27 the Operations department will be picking up yard waste that is in paper bags. Yard waste put in plastic bags will not be picked up.

There will also be a hazardous waste pick-up on this day. Click here to see what is, and what is not accepted. Please ensure that all household hazardous waste is properly labeled, stored, and sealed, and not mixed in with the yard waste.

Please place items for pick-up in the parking lanes. Higher density areas (Stone Mountain, Mountain Park Co-ops, etc.) will have designated pick-up locations, please refer to the below map for the locations.

What is FireSmart?

FireSmart helps communities located in forested areas to reduce the risk of wildfire to homes and neighbourhoods. It also helps property owners and communities understand the wildfire risk and how to make homes more resilient to fire. The combination of community-wide fuel reduction and backyard-level FireSmart work is our community's best defense against wildfires.

Visit the FireSmart Canada website for more details on how you can help protect your home from a wildfire.
