Paid Parking

Paid Parking is in effect downtown until October 31.

Rates are $3 an hour on-street, and $2 an hour or $12 a day in parking lots. Hours of operation are 9:00am to 9:00pm.

Payment can be made by:

  • scanning the QR code on signs (no app download required);
  • downloading the HotSpot app; or
  • in person at the Administration Office (303 Pyramid Lake Road).
    • Payment kiosks will be installed at the end of June.

Jasper residents are eligible to apply for residential permits to receive free parking.

A Residential Permit will allow you to park in the Resident Parking Only zones, and receive a code for the 500 hours of free parking program (set to launch later this month). Residential Permit holders will be able to park downtown (no other action required) until the 500 hours program is in place.

  • Create an account with HotSpot (download the app or go to htsp.ca)
  • Add your vehicle(s) to your account
  • Go to My Permits > Apply for Residential Permit and upload your vehicle registration and proof of residency in Jasper.
    • When using the app, make sure you have your documents ready to take photos. Please ensure the whole registration document is viewable in order for our team to approve the application.

For more information or additional help applying for Residential Permits contact HotSpot Customer Support at 1-855-712-5888 or support@htsp.ca

Make sure to check your junk mail if you don’t receive an email from HotSpot after applying for a permit.

Starting the week of June 20, 2022, most Jasper residents will be required to use the HotSpot app or website to manage their parking sessions downtown.

All affected permit holders will receive an email from HotSpot including the discount code when the program launches.

Warnings will be issued during the first full week of the program to give residents a fair chance to comply.

If you've been assigned a Paid Parking Zone Resident permit or a Mobility and Technology permit (previously called Seniors Permit), are exempt from the 500h program and can continue parking with no further action required. Local Business permit holders are also exempt.

Residents holding a Resident at Large or a Residential Parking Zone permit will need to input the discount code in the HotSpot app when parking. Once the code is applied, the cost of the parking session will display as $0, and the hours used will be tracked. Residents will receive a notification from HotSpot if and when they are approaching the 500h limit.

The discount code “jasper” (case sensitive) will be the same for everyone. It will only work for approved permit holders, which means users without a valid residential permit won’t be able to use the code and park for free.

How to park using your 500 hours with the HotSpot app:

  • Park your vehicle downtown and look for the zone # on the paid parking signage
  • Open the HotSpot app and hit “Parking” at the bottom of your screen
  • If you have more than one vehicle on your account, make sure the right vehicle is selected (in red at the top of the screen). Hit the vehicle name and “change vehicle” if needed.
  • Enter the zone #
  • Select how long you want to park
  • Make sure the “city” is set to Jasper
  • Input the discount code (“jasper” all lower case)
  • The “cost” should now show as $0.00
  • Hit “Park”

You can top up your parking session on your phone without having to return to your vehicle. Remember that parking time limits apply (i.e. 2 hours maximum on downtown streets). There is no parking time limit in parking lots and on Geikie Street. You can also park anywhere in the Resident Parking Only zones without any action required.

Businesses who hold a valid Business Licence with the Municipality of Jasper are eligible to apply for a Local Business Permit, through which parking permits can be assigned to company vehicles.

  • Business owners with two vehicles or less should follow the Residential Permit instructions to register their vehicles with HotSpot.
  • Business owners with three vehicles or more should apply for the Local Business Permit by completing the Local Business Parking Permit application form here.

You will be asked to provide the following information:

  • Business name
  • Business email address
    • Make sure you use a different email address than any existing residential HotSpot account, or your residential account and associated permits will be deleted.
  • Municipality of Jasper Business Licence number
  • Proof or registration (image or scan) for each company vehicle you want to register

Staff will review and approve your application once it is submitted. Our service standard to process applications is two to three business days.

You will then receive an email indicating you've been approved for a Bundle Permit. Please wait for a second email with Jasper-specific instructions before trying to login to HotSpot to manage your permits.

  1. Follow the link in the second email (accessible only through a web browser, not the HotSpot app) and verify your account (i.e. create a password). You should now be within the Bundle Permits section.
  2. Navigate to the Vehicles page (left hand menu), and click on the red “Add Vehicle” button to input the licence plate number for each vehicle you want to register.

You will be assigned as many permits as vehicle registration documents you have submitted in your application.

If you receive an error message when submitting the form, it may be due to the file sizes being too big. If you run into this issue, please email your remaining documents to parking@jasper-alberta.ca or submit a second form.

Once this process is completed, you will be able to park each vehicle in the paid parking zone without further action required. Please note that posted parking time limits still apply.

The purpose of this program is to enable local businesses to continue providing services in the paid parking zone. The data collected for these permits in 2022 will be used to help develop a business parking program in future years.

For assistance with registering for any permit type, please come to the Activity Centre front desk between 4:00pm and 8:00pm daily with your documents (vehicle registration and proof of residency).

Please treat our administration team with respect. All questions, concerns, and complaints should be directed to parking@jasper-alberta.ca so they can be directed to the right individuals.
